The Smith Ranch Road off leash area is a shared community resource, so please be aware of the people around your, many of whom do not have dogs and are at the facility for their own recreational events.
During the weekday, the park is mostly for off-leash use. In the late afternoon and evenings the softball diamond and the soccer field are in frequent use, and the weekends are very busy with sporting activities.
Your dog MUST be under firm voice control: calls of 'dog on the field' are a sure way to have your dog's lack of training ruin the off leash privileges for everyone.
Your dog must also be VERY comfortable around people running nearly, abundant food in adjacent areas and small children attending games in adjoining areas. If your dog is not completely reliable in these situations, please use one of the other dog-only off leash parks in the area.
PICK UP POOP
We can't say this enough...nobody likes to step in poop, even if they are dog fans and there to enjoy the off leash space. It's much worse if you're there for a soccer game and your toddler sits in it - it's a shared space so be extra-vigilant.
Have fun! The rules are here to remind everyone that this recreational is shared space, and that by being polite and attentive to the other users, we can all enjoy the area.
